Tycho Sneyers elected to Private Equity News’ “20 Most Influential in ESG” list

4 April 2023

LGT Capital Partners is pleased to announce that Tycho Sneyers, one of our Managing Partners and a Board Member at UN PRI, was elected to the inaugural “20 Most Influential in ESG” list. The rating was led by an editorial panel of the international media outlet Private Equity News and celebrates the private equity industry’s ESG leaders.

In its commendation, Private Equity News wrote that in 2018, Tycho Sneyers became the first private equity executive to be elected to the board of directors of the PRI, where he is currently serving his second term. Furthermore, the editorial panel highlighted that under Tycho Sneyers' leadership, LGT Capital Partners introduced sustainable investing parameters already in 2003 and became one of the first groups to officially have ESG-linked clauses in its LP agreements. LGT Capital Partners' efforts to classify all newly launched private equity funds as Article 8 or 9 under the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regime further contributed to his distinction.

Tycho Sneyers said: “The credit goes to our entire firm, which had the courage to make ESG criteria an essential part of the investment process as early as 2003. I am pleased that this visionary spirit has been recognized by the industry by being included in Private Equity News’ ‘20 most influential in ESG’ list.”

All nominees were considered by an editorial panel for influence over their business area, leadership within the sector, performance over the past year and their capacity to shape their business and/or the industry over the year ahead. While the period under consideration was calendar year 2022, the panel also looked at longer-term track records. The final list includes senior leaders working at private equity firms and institutional investors based in Europe, and is not ranked.
