Alternative investment firm and its staff members provide financial aid to international charities in 2022

This year has once again presented many people and societies around the world with humanitarian challenges. The war in Ukraine, the drought in Ethiopia, the food crises in Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan, and the rising food prices in Sri Lanka are just a few examples.

In order to provide aid to those suffering as a result of these humanitarian crises, LGT Capital Partners has, in line with our philosophy to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged people, decided to support various organizations with financial aid contributions throughout the year.

Early in 2022, the firm decided to donate a substantial sum to Caritas, Helvetas, Médecins sans Frontières, Swiss Red Cross and Unicef. A first tranche was distributed in March 2022 and was primarily geared towards initiatives dedicated to helping people in need in Ukraine, focusing on emergency housing, water, food and clothing, medical support and care for children. A second tranche of the same amount was released in November 2022 and again used for relief purposes in Ukraine, as well as other aid projects around the world, to mitigate the effects of war and hunger.

Towards the end of the year, and as a replacement for the traditional client holiday season gifts, LGT Capital Partners provided financial aid to the Liberian Education Advancement Program (LEAP), SmartStart and Nature for Water, three partners of the firm, to support their international social and environmental projects.

The financial means provided by LGT Capital Partners were further supplemented by individual donations from staff members who supported the eight humanitarian organizations through personal financial contributions.

Additionally, the LGT Group Foundation, the firm’s parent company, typically makes a substantial financial contribution to the LGT Venture Philanthropy Foundation to fund its various philanthropic initiatives.

Pius Fritschi, a Managing Partner at LGT Capital Partners, said: “We, as a family-owned company, feel privileged to be in a position that allows us to provide financial support to people in need on a regular basis. We are grateful that, together with our partners, clients and staff members, we have had the opportunity to sponsor several projects around the world and thus make a valuable contribution to disadvantaged societies globally.”
