LGT Capital Partners hosts first ESG Academy

6 April 2023

Two-day ESG Academy held with investors and experts from industry and academia to discuss latest ESG trends and developments

Incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into our business practices has been part of LGT Capital Partners’ DNA for more than 20 years. As the financial industry has changed over the past two decades, so has the ESG landscape: ESG is now an indispensable, professionalized, and increasingly regulated part of the entire economy.

To share our long-term knowledge and insights in this fast-changing environment and discuss the latest trends with experts from industry and academia, LGT Capital Partners recently hosted its first ESG Academy.

The ESG Academy was held as a two-day program in an exclusive and private setting at the Freudenfels castle in Switzerland. It was built around three thematic blocks, with “investing with outcomes” forming the prelude, followed by a deep-dive into “climate action”, while “impact investing” concluded the program.

In addition to our internal speakers, we invited numerous external experts who offered practitioner perspectives to the participants. Speakers included for example Dr Reto Knutti, professor at ETH Zurich, as well as Willem Vosmer, partner at the impact consulting firm Steward Redqueen.

Based on the positive participant feedback, LGT Capital Partners will host the ESG Academy regularly going forward.

Hanna Edström and Keimpe Keuning, the organizers of the ESG Academy, said: ”We are pleased to offer our investors a unique way of gaining a better understanding and find inspiration around ESG and impact topics. We look forward to hosting many more successful ESG Academies over the years.”

LGT Capital Partners and ESG

As a family-owned business, ESG has always been part of LGT Capital Partners philosophy. We are committed to managing our business and our investments in a sustainable way for the benefit of subsequent generations. A long-term focus and ESG integration are core elements of our corporate culture and our investment beliefs.

Since 2003, we have been encouraging the integration of ESG in our offering and its promotion in the financial industry. In 2008, we were one of the first signatories of the UN PRI, and since 2018 LGT Capital Partners further engages with PRI as a member of its Board.
