Active ownership: LGT Capital Partners publishes 2024 report for sustainable equity and fixed income
LGT Capital Partners has published its Active Ownership Report 2024, offering insights into our engagement efforts, key outcomes and the evolution of our active ownership strategy within our sustainable equity and fixed income portfolios. The report highlights our commitment to positively influencing corporate behavior, driving measurable ESG improvements and aligning investments with long-term sustainability goals.
Active ownership is a key component of LGT Capital Partners’ investment approach for our sustainable equity and fixed income strategies. This represents one of four pillars in our holistic approach to ESG integration, alongside exclusions, the integration of ESG factors, as well as measuring and impact.
Report with 2024 active ownership metrics and case studies
- Extensive global engagements: Our sustainable equity and fixed income teams engaged with 54 companies across 16 countries.
- Geographical distribution: 50% of our engagements were concentrated in Europe, followed by 42% in the Americas and 7% in Asia.
- Priority areas: Environmental topics were our primary focus, accounting for 39% of our engagements, in line with our five-year engagement theme of climate action. Topics predominantly centered on climate action, biodiversity, supply chain management and sustainability disclosures. 82% of engagements were linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Engagement classification: Half of our engagements were explicitly aimed at driving change, with 50% of our engagements being objective oriented, 33% research related and 18% reactive.
- Proxy voting: A fundamental aspect of our active ownership approach is the exercising of voting rights. In 2024, we participated in 100% of the meetings of our portfolio companies, voting on a total of 1,140 items.
